Sound
The music is the clock. And the mechanic.
In Nachtclub the DJ set decides what the crowd wants, how hard the bar is hit and what the thing below the floor hears. You don't play to the music. You play inside it.
The set
Five sections, five kinds of night.
Every night follows one DJ set: intro, build, drop, breakdown, outro. The floor follows the energy, and the bar feels it a moment later. Pick a section to see what happens.
On the floor
Peak. The whole room is dancing and the bar goes almost quiet.
Your job
This is your breath. Restock, clean, read the next break.
Music as a mechanic
Three things that listen.
The crowd
Dancers surge on the build and fill the floor on the drop. When the energy falls they all remember they're thirsty at once.
You
Your best window to restock and clean is the drop. Your worst is the breakdown. Learning the set is learning the job.
Something below
It hears every set you play. In the mine you answer it with the melody of tonight's set, hummed back in four beats.
Space
You hear a room before you enter it.
The doorway
Walk up to the club door and the music opens up: bass through the wall, then the room.
The cellar
A muffled bass above you, water dripping somewhere, your own footsteps.
The iron door
Behind it, your own song, slowed down and filtered, as if it were being repeated back to you.
The mine
Silence and a far-off breath. The kind of quiet that has someone in it.
The rain
It changes by surface: metal, gutter, cobbles. You can tell where you are with your eyes shut.
Where it comes from
Honest about the music.
In the jam build, the music and sound effects are synthesised by our own code: a 128 BPM test set for the club and an acid techno trailer track at around 138 BPM. No AI music model was used.
For the full game, İhsan writes and produces the original music. DJ sets may include other producers' tracks, and we will only use music we have the rights to.
An original soundtrack release is something we'd like to do. It's an intention, not an announcement.
